Spent a whole semester reviewing a bunch of articles on plant development and physiology. Most of the experiments, if not all, were conducted on Arabidopsis thaliana. Among all the topics in plant developmental biology, I always found anther growth and dehiscence to be one of the more fascinating events in plant sexual development.

Yeast cells, Saccharomyces cerevisiae
Since it’s Christmas, and in Christmas there’s lots of bread (i.e. pastries, cakes, etc) and alcohol to be consumed… I’m featuring yeast! 
Here is a light micrograph of what is commonly known as baker’s or brewer’s yeast. It is also extensively used as a model organisms in cell and molecular biology.
